E-1 Survives Songkran!

The Olympus E-1 survives Songkran! Here are only a few pictures that I took yesterday - you can have a look at the songkran pictures on the link to the right "Nat's daily pictures" and check out the photographs that were taken!

Well... as my title for this post is, I shall talk about the camera that has knocked me off my socks, thanks to Benedict for introducing me and enticing me to purchase this 5 year old "out of date" camera which sports a 5mp (tiny) sensor with a 4/3 system.

Songkran festival is here and I'm in thailand to
FINALLY take pictures of this event! It's a new year for Thai's and they celebrate it by playing with water! Water wars are all about and it can be pretty dangerous driving around, especially when you've got drunk people driving cars and running around.

Well, I loaded my camera with a fresh battery, put the strap on and headed out on a pickup truck with my friends and girlfriend. My friends were kinda worried cos I was carring a camera... not a small one in a plastic bag, but a big one with NO PLASTIC BAG....
The girls were a little vain though... looking at
Their well-manicured hands/fingers before we headed out for the deluge that awaited us.

The way Songkran is experienced can't be seen in the top-most picture - it's way wetter than that! Totally! I'll try to post more pictures after this post to give you guys an idea of how wet one gets during this 'wet season'.

Back to the camera - out the deluge that came down on it... from sprinkles to huge tsunami-like 'waves' to jet streams from power-hoses! The lens for the day, the 14-54 held out well too.

Dont have a picture of the camera after the day was done, but it was covered with water marks, flour, powder and it looked so scary that some of you guys (especially those who really take care of their cameras and polish them up every other day) would faint and probably offer me rock bottom prices if I tried to sell off this E-1 body! haha... it looked terrible.

I washed it down when i got back and cleaned it up and i'm glad to report that it's still very fine! took a few more shots today too E-1 lives up to its name, is extremely sharp with exceptional wb. auto focusing is a little slow but when u have MF, hehehe... its not a problem~ alright... more pictures in the next post! Posted by Picasa
